Raiganj youths vow to keep environment clean

A good number of youths in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj district under the banner of ‘BD Clean’ on Friday vowed to keep the local environment clean and healthy for human beings.

With the aim, they also launched an exclusive cleaning drive, which was inaugurated by Humayun Kabir, UNO of Raiganj, over cell phone call.

The programme was launched at the main square of the municipality by reciting oath.

BD Clean, also a non-government organization’s District Coordinator Umme Salma was present at the event as a special guest, while Shahinur Alam and S.M Bahadur Ali were present as inspectors.

Upazila Deputy Coordinator Siam Sheikh, Co-Coordinator Aisha, IT and Media Editor Nahid Hasan, volunteer Miraj Talukder, Helal Khan, Nizam Uddin and about 40 other members also spontaneously participated in the activity.

BD Clean Raiganj Team Coordinator said, “On the occasion of the 9th anniversary of BD Clean, we have embarked on a campaign to clean 900 places across the country. We believe that, everyone has to come forward to build a clean Bangladesh. Our main goal is to make people aware about enviroment.”

Dhangara roundabout, market, center point and important roads were cleaned during the day-long campaign. Volunteers spread awareness among the people with placards and posters with cleanliness messages.

This initiative once again highlighted the importance of cleanliness and environmental protection in Raiganj. BD Clean members said that they will continue such campaigns in the future.
