Rail link between Dhaka-North Bengal restored after 5 and a half hours

The railway authorities recovered the compartment of the Panchagarh Express train that derailed at Bangabandhu Bridge East railway station in Tangail after five and a half hours. This has normalized train movement between Dhaka and North Bengal.

Before this, the accident took place at Bangabandhu Bridge East railway station at 8:45 PM on Monday. Bangabandhu Bridge East Station Master Khairul Islam has confirmed that train movement become normal.

Station master Khairul Islam said that after the train accident, the carriages were removed first. The damaged carriage was then lifted up on the line by a crane. After that train movement became normal.

The passengers of the train said that it was leaving for Dhaka after a break at Bangabandhu Bridge East railway station. At that time there was a sudden sound. Later we found out that the wheel had derailed. As a result, it is difficult to reach the destination.

Alamgir Ashraf, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station, said that the four wheels of a coach derailed when the Dhaka-bound Panchagarh Express train reached near Bangabandhu Bridge. As a result, all rail connections between North Bengal and Dhaka were stopped.
