Several hundreds of people on Sunday last (December 15) formed a human chain at Randhunibari Baza’ar in Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj district protesting to the attack on the villagers and committing robbery by a terrorist group belonging to Awami League.

The demonstrators claimed that, a terrorist group led by Shafiqul Islam, Jewel, Amirul, Kayes and Abul Kalam of the neighboring Sarotia village in the same upazila have been engaged in extortion at local hats and baza’ars for long abusing the power of recent ousted Awami League government.

Due to protesting to the evil deeds, a group of terrorists made attack on the peace loving people of Randhunibari village to establish their supremacy. They also vandalized houses and ransacked valuable goods during the attack.

The demonstrators also urged the law enforcers to ensure punishment to the attackers by arresting immediately. They also mentioned that, an allegation has been submitted to the respective police station in this regard. But, the police are plying mysterious role in this connection due to unknown reason, they complained.

Jakaria Hossain, Officer in Charge of Belkuchi Police station said, “We have received a complaint in this regard. But, necessary action would be taken after investigation.”

Abdus Salam, Member of Rajapur Union’s ward no-2, Hazi Mohammad Shariful Islam, Saker Hossain, Ariful Islam and Nazmul Hossain among others took part in the agitation.
