Reconsidering agreements and understandings between Bangladesh and India is a time-consuming process, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Thursday.

The ministry’s Director General of the Public Diplomacy Wing, Toufique Hasan, during a weekly briefing said, “The agreements and MoUs signed between India and Bangladesh fall under the jurisdiction of various ministries. It requires consultations and coordinated actions across all relevant parties. This naturally takes time.”

Addressing queries about a review of agreements in the last 100 days following remarks by the Foreign Adviser, the spokesperson acknowledged limited progress so far. But he expressed optimism about achieving significant advancements in the future. “We anticipate more substantial progress in the coming days.”

Responding to questions about Indian visa issues, the spokesperson assured that the Indian visa centre remains operational, with priority being given to medical and student visa applications.

He attributed delays to a “manpower shortage” on the Indian side and expressed hope that appropriate steps will be taken to address the problem.
