Remembering Nayak Raj Razzak on his 83rd birthday

Thursday marks the 83rd birthday of the iconic film star Nayak Raj Razzak. To honor the day, the actor’s family has planned various activities, including a doa mahfil.

Abdur Razzak, who was dubbed Nayak Raj Razzak (King of Heroes) by Chitrali magazine editor Ahmed Zaman Chowdhury, won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor five times.

Razzak was born on January 23, 1942, in Nagtola, Taliganj, Kolkata. The renowned actor and director kicked off his film career with a small role in the 1966 film ‘13 Number Feku Ostagar Lane’. In the same year, he played a significant role in Zaheer Raihan’s ‘Behula’. From that point on, he became the leading hero in films for many decades.

In his long-career, Nayok Raj has acted in many notable movies, including “Rongbaaz”, “Kogojer Nouka” “Slogan”, “Jhorer Pakhi”, “Aamar Jonmobhumi”, “Swapno Diye Ghera”,  “Swarolipi”, “Alor Michhil”, “Beiman”, “ Abirbhab”, “Moner Moto Bou”, “Ora 11 Jon”, Jibon “Theke Neoa”, “Dorpo Churno”, “Je Agune Puri”, “Taka Aana Pai”, “Nacher Putul”, “Abujh Mon”, “Chuutir Ghonta”, “Anonto Prem”, “Aanar Koli”, “Rojoni Gondha”, “Boro Bhalo Lok Chilo”, “Tauba”, “Chapa Dangar Bou” and Shondhi.

Talking about his father’s birthday, Nayok Raj’s younger son Shamrat said, “Once there was a big party on my father’s birthday. I enjoyed that time a lot. But now it’s not like a special day, I always pray for my father. On his birthday I go to my father’s grave, I will go Thursday too. I just want to everyone’s prayers for my father.”

The Independence Day Award-winning passed away on 21August 2017.
