‘Remittance Warriors Day-2025’ observed in Sirajganj

The “Remittance Warriors Day 2025” was observed at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner’s office in Sirajganj on Saturday morning commemorating the historic July-August mass uprising and recognizing the contributions of expatriate workers to the national economy.

The event was organized as a joint initiative of the district administration and various organizations under the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.

The Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nazrul Islam was present as the chief guest at the event.

In his speech, he termed the contribution of expatriate workers as the driving force of Bangladesh’s economy and expressed his gratitude to them.

He said, expatriates not only send remittances, but also expose Bangladesh in the world. The government is determined to protect and respect their rights.

The event was also attended by senior officials of the district administration, representatives of various government and private organizations, remittance warriors, journalists and local dignitaries.

Speakers at the event emphasized the vital role of expatriates in bolstering both their families and the country’s economy. They said the tireless efforts of migrant workers abroad have become a driving force in the nation’s development and called for ensuring their proper recognition, safety and welfare.

During the programme, top remittance earners from the district were honored with crests, which were received by their family members on their behalf.

The district administration sources said that, there are plans to organize such programmes on a larger scale in the future, so that effective steps can be taken to improve the quality of life of expatriate Bangladeshis.
