TDS Desk:
The government has approved a significant increase in the risk allowance for rank-and-file police personnel, raising it from a minimum of Tk 300 to a maximum of Tk 1,080 per month, depending on rank and years of service.
The new rates, finalised by the Finance Division, will be implemented soon through a statutory regulatory order (SRO).
This marks the first revision in a decade, updating the existing allowance structure that was set in 2015. The decision aims to recognise the hazardous nature of police duties and improve financial incentives for frontline officers.
FINALISED, AWAITING OFFICIAL NOTIFICATION
According to sources in the Ministry of Finance, the Regulations Wing of the Finance Division has completed the approval process. Joint Secretary Md Ferdous Alam of the Finance Department confirmed the decisions, “The increase has been approved, but it is not yet in effect. It will be officially implemented after the SRO is issued.”

The increase is expected to benefit hundreds of thousands of police personnel across the country, boosting morale amid growing demands on law enforcement.
