BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi urged the interim government to prioritize the national interest and move forward with elections without delay, emphasizing that this is essential for restoring peace and stability.

Speaking to journalists after visiting the family of slain journalist ATM Turab in Sylhet on Wednesday, Rizvi called on the current interim government to take a more responsible approach to ensure national stability.

The BNP leader also criticized the Indian government’s approach to Bangladesh, stating that while Delhi harbours criminals from Bangladesh like Sheikh Hasina, it allows the killing of innocent people like Jayanta and Sharna along the border.

He emphasized that such actions undermine the security and sovereignty of Bangladesh.

Rizvi further stressed that there is no alternative to holding elections to fulfil the aspirations of the people.

He demanded to scrapping of the Digital Security Act and Indemnity Ordinance in the power sector.

The BNP leader also highlighted that swift and responsible governance is crucial in this transitional period, as any negligence could pave the way for further unrest.

Amra BNP Poribar Convenor Atiqul Islam Rumman, Sylhet district BNP President Abdul Quyyum Chowdhury, Secretary Amran Ahmed Chowdhury, Sylhet city BNP acting president Miftah Siddiquee and Secretary General Emdad Hussain Chowdhury, among others, were present in the event.
