A man and his son died as a bus hit a van on Nazirpur-Matibhanga road in Nazipur upazila of Pirojpur on Monday.

The deceased were Mahabub Mollah, 35, and his son Iyad Ali Mollah, hailing from Caltabari village of the upazila.

Van driver Moin Sheikh, who was also injured, was taken to Khulna Medical College and Hospital.

Mahamud Al Farid Bhuiya, Officer-in-Charge of Nazirpur police station, said that the accident occurred in the morning when the speeding bus of  Emad Paribahan crashed into the van after losing control on the road in Ruhitalabunia area, leaving the trio critically injured.

They were first taken to Nazirpur Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to the medical college hospital, he said.

The duo was declared dead at the hosptial.

Legal action will be taken, added the OC.
