Sirajganj district administration and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) jointly chalked out several programmes including meeting and procession in the district marking the National Road Safety Day-2025.
On this occasion, a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) under the auspices of Sirajganj District Administration and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) with the theme of “Use quality helmets and maintain safe speed to reduce loss of life and property”.
The meeting was presided over by Rozina Akhter, Additional District Magistrate of Sirajganj, while Muhammad Nazrul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Sirajganj attended there as chief guest. Besides, Faruk Hossain, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Sirajganj was scheduled to attend at the event as special guest, but he could not attend due to professional busyness.

Among others, Motor-vehicle Inspector of BRTA Md. Hafizul Islam, convener of District Truck and Covered-van Workers Association Shamsul Alam and General Secretary of CNG Workers Association Jahedul Islam Liton spoke on the occasion.
Speakers at the discussion said that, if someone is killed in a road accident, his/her family members may get a maximum of Tk 5 lakh as grant after submitting application to the BRTA within a scheduled time of 30 days since the incident. But most of the people in the country are unknown about the matter. As a result, many victims’ families remain away from the support and lead miserable life after losing their near and dear once, who was only means of income in their families.
The speakers also stressed the need for issuing licenses for the drivers and asked the drivers to maintain traffic rules properly.
Besides this, a colourful procession that brought out from the premises of DC office marched the main streets in the town with the aim to enhance awareness among the drivers and commuters.
To make the occasion more meaningful, BRTA also continues its campaign activities through different educational institutions in the district. It also distributed best quality of helmets among some registered bike riders to protect them from fatal accidents.
