The first unit of the Rooppur nuclear power plant will be commissioned by the end of this year. Next year by 2025, the second unit will be commissioned. In other words, two units of the Rooppur nuclear power plant will be fully operational in the next year.

Nuclear experts said that Bangladesh is going to set a new record in the implementation of complex and the country’s first nuclear project in the shortest period, which will take the country to a new level of capability. Fuel has already arrived in the project area. Some think that the arrival of energy means that electricity can be produced immediately. It is not like that. Now the re-commissioning stage is going on. If three more steps are completed through this, it will be able to go to commercial electricity production. Along with this, if the grid and other things work properly, then the trial or pilot commercial operation of power generation will be able to go within a short time. And this will be a milestone for Bangladesh in technical development.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the country’s mega power plant is now being prepared for commissioning after importing nuclear fuel. Nuclear power plant builder Russia has also given full assurance to Bangladesh to explain the project within the stipulated time.

Science and Technology Minister Architect Yafes Osman said the work is going on as per schedule. The country will get nuclear power in 2025. Creating electricity with this kind of technology, which we need every day, is very difficult and a big task. And these are not things to brag about. Fuel stockpile means that our country has now reached a great height. We are now the 33rd nuclear powered country in the world. He said that the first unit will be completed in 2024 and the second unit in 2025.
