The Law Adviser to the interim government Dr Asif Nazrul believes that Fascism has deep roots in this country and it’s so deep that fighting against these fascists has become arduous.

“In the past 15 years, they have consolidated while we have only been working against this process for a few weeks,” said Dr Nazrul.

He made these remarks on Friday, at a hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka, during the opening of a two-day event organized by the Asian Federation Against Involuntary Disappearances (AFAD). Families of victims of enforced disappearances were present at the event.

Dr Asif Nazrul said, “Enforced disappearance is more horrific than murder. While the interim government may have some limitations, it does not lack sincerity when it comes to introducing laws against enforced disappearance. The government is thinking about rehabilitating the family members of those who have gone missing. ”

At the event, Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan was also present. He said, “The current government stands with the families of those who have disappeared.”

Also present at the meeting was  Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman. He urged the Law Adviser to take crimes like enforced disappearances seriously and make sure such crimes do not occur in the future.
