Rajshahi Correspondent:
A leader of Rajshahi University (RU) unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of BNP, was expelled for life for his derogatory remarks about female students of July 36 Hall.
A statement signed by Nafiu Islam, office secretary of the university unit of JCD, was issued on Thursday about the expulsion.
The expelled leader is Anisur Rahman Milon, vice president Shah Makhdum Hall unit.
On Monday, the hall provost summoned 91 female students by issuing a notice for entering the hall after the scheduled time.
Amid the widespread criticism on social media regarding the notice, the hall administration was forced to withdraw it on Tuesday.
A Facebook group named ‘Rajshahi University Parliament,’ uploaded a photocard on the notice, where Milon made offensive comments about the female students, sparking widespread outrage.
Milon wrote under the post, “These are not students, these are unpaid sex workers.”
Criticism began when screenshots of the comment spread on social media on Wednesday night.
In response, the JCD unit suspended Milon and formed an investigation panel.
As the accused failed to provide satisfactory explanations during the investigation he was expelled.
Milon claimed that his Facebook account was “not under his control” at that time.
