No more bodies were found from the gutted Shezan Juice Factory in Rupganj, Narayanganj till Saturday morning. Although the rescue operation was completed, 52 workers are still missing. After extinguishing the fire, the fire service has started a new searching operation on the sixth floor of the factory.
It has been reported that even after dousing the blaze, smoke is still coming out from the debris of the fire. The members of the fire service have started searching for the bodies and putting out the fire.
On Thursday evening, a devastating fire broke out at Rupganj Sejan Juice Factory that claimed at least 52 lives and 50 others received injuries. Most of whom are women and children.
The fire originated at 5:30 pm from the second floor of the seven-storey building located in Kornogop area of Bhulta union under Rupganj Upazila. The blaze was brought under control at about 1:15 pm on Friday after several hours of frantic efforts.
The injured were undergoing treatment at various hospitals, including Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), while the bodies were sent to DMCH morgue.
Almost all the bodies recovered yesterday could not be recognized. So these bodies were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for DNA test. The bodies would be hand over to their respective relatives after identifying through DNA tests.
The district administration donated Tk 25,000 for burial of each victim while Tk 10,000 for each of those seriously injured.
Earlier, the district administration formed a five-member committee making Narayanganj Additional Deputy Commissioner Shamim Bepari convener to investigate the incident. The committee has been asked to submit its probe report within seven days.
