A Narayanganj court today granted four days remand to eight accused, including owner of Hashem Food factory and his four sons, on a four-day remand each in a case lodged over the Thursday’s devastating fire at Sejan Food and Beverage Factory in Rupganj that claimed at least 52 lives.
Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Fahmida Khanam passed the verdict on Saturday afternoon.
The remandees are Abul Hashem, his four sons Hasib bin Hashem, Tareq Ibrahim, Tawseeb Ibrahim and Tanzeem Ibrahim and CEO of the company Shahan Shah Azad, DGM of Hashem Food Limited Mamunur Rashid and admin chief Salauddin.
Narayanganj Court Police Inspector Asaduzzaman confirmed the information.
The accused were produced before the Narayanganj court with 10 days remand prayer by Nazim Uddin, inspector in charge of Rupganj’s Bhulta outpost. The court granted them remand four days each.
It may be mentioned that the fire that broke out at Hashem Foods and Beverages factory in Rupganj at 5.30 pm on Thursday killed 52 people. The fire service recovered 49 bodies from the building on Friday afternoon. In all, 52 bodies have been recovered so far. More than 50 workers are still missing in the factory fire
