Sakhawat responses after being removed from home affairs

Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain has been removed from the post of Home Adviser to the Interim Government and given the duty of Ministry of Textiles and Jute. He responded in this context.

In a response given to Voice of America (VOA), M Sakhawat Hossain said, “Alhamdulillah, I have been doing what I could. There is nothing to be upset about.”

“If I can work where I am given, I will do it, and if I am unable to do so, I will leave,” M Sakhawat Hossain said about being an adviser to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

On Friday (August 16) evening, the Cabinet Division issued a notification redistributing the responsibilities of the current advisers.

Brigadier General (Retd.) Sakhawat Hossain was removed from the Ministry of Home Affairs and given the duty of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. Besides, the responsibility of the Ministry of Home Affairs was given to Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

In the face of the anti-discrimination student movement, Sheikh Hasina was ousted from the post of Prime Minister on August 5 and left the country. The Cabinet was dissolved on that day. The next day on August 6, the President dissolved the 12th National Parliament.

After that, on August 8, the Interim Government was sworn in with Nobel Peace Prize-winning economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the Chief Adviser. There are also 20 advisers.

Among the redistributed ministries, Salehuddin Ahmed has been given the new charge of the Ministry of Commerce. Before this, he received the charge of the Ministry of Finance. Asif Nazrul will handle the duties of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment and the Ministry of Culture along with the Ministry of Law.

Adilur Rahman Khan will now serve as an adviser to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. Earlier, he was given the charge of the Ministry of Industry. Syeda Rizwana Hasan will now serve as an adviser to the Ministry of Water Resources along with the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.

Nahid Islam has got the charge of an adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He was initially given the duty of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ICT). Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Labor and Employment along with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Farooq-e Azam will also handle the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. At first, he was made an adviser to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

Meanwhile, newly sworn-in Wahiduddin Mahmud has been given the charge of the Ministry of Planning and Ministry of Education. Ali Imam Majumder has been attached to the office of Chief Adviser.

Dr. Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan received the offices of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, and Ministry of Railways.
