A Dhaka court on Wednesday showed Salman F Rahman, former private industry affairs adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and sacked Major General Ziaul Ahsan arrested in separate cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifur Rahman passed the orders on Wednesday (October 16), showing Salman and Mamun arrested in an attempt to murder case filed by transport worker Sohel under Khilgaon Police Station.
The court also showed the former director general of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) sacked Maj Gen Ziaul Ahsan arrested in a case lodged over the alleged abduction and forced disappearance of Col (retd) Touhidul Islam, chief former personal security officer of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Salman F Rahman was arrested in the Sadarghat area as he was trying to flee the capital along with former law minister Anisul Huq through the waterways on August 13. He was placed on a 10-day remand in shopper Shahjahan Ali murder case the next day.
Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested the former IGP on September 3 and the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Akhteruzzaman placed him on eight-day remand in the Abu Sayed murder case the next day. He was placed on a four-day remand in Mohammad Ismail murder case on September 24.
Notorious Ziaul Ahsan, much feared for his alleged role in the enforced disappearance and assassinations of opposition leaders and activists across the country, was arrested from the capital’s Khilkhet area on August 16.
