Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer (Northern Region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP) on Friday expressed his desire to be elected to Parliament through direct votes from the people.

“The people will regain their right to vote, and we want to go to Parliament as their representatives through direct elections. As the organizational team of the National Citizen Party in the northern region, we will visit 32 designated districts,” he announced while speaking to journalists after the Jummah prayers at Keramotia Mosque in Rangpur.

He continued: “NCP is ready to take on the challenge of nominating candidates for all 300 seats in the National Parliamentary elections. We are accustomed to taking on such challenges. NCP was formed just a month ago. From our position, we will make every effort to nominate honest, qualified, and patriotic candidates.”

He added: “We believe that for the past decade, politics has not been for the general people. We will go to the people in fields, marketplaces, and alleys to share our aspirations and the dreams we have for Bangladesh.”

Sarjis further said: “The European Union functions as a bloc of 28 to 29 countries, maintaining inter-country and inter-regional exchanges. They use each other’s ports to enhance trade and commerce, but this must be done on an equal basis. There should be mutual respect among nations.

“The relationship between India and Bangladesh must be based on respect and equality.”
