Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, has called on political parties to abandon the practice of “my man” politics and instead work in the public interest.

Speaking at the Festival of Youth event at Motijheel Ideal School and College on Thursday, he emphasized that political parties often prioritize personal affiliations over national welfare when selecting candidates for elections.

“Instead of choosing individuals based on personal proximity, parties must shift towards a ‘people’s man’ approach in politics,” he said.

Sarjis, a key figure during the July uprising, expressed concern over the lack of reforms even after six months since the Awami League’s ouster, saying that neither an interim government nor an elected administration can achieve these changes alone without active public support.

Additionally, he said the collaborators of the “fascist” Awami League regime are still active.

Issuing a stern warning, he declared: “If anyone engages in fascist behaviour in the future, the struggle against them will persist.”
