SC defers hearing on caretaker govt restoration petitions to Jan 19

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has set January 19 for holding the hearing on three separate review petitions challenging its 2011 verdict that scrapped the non-party caretaker government system.

The top court took this decision following a month time petition of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.

A six-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed on Sunday fixed the new date for hearing.
