A schoolboy has died after falling from the roof of a three-story building while celebrating New Year’s Eve with friends. The incident occurred around 11:30 PM on Tuesday, December 31, in the Officepara area of Bonpara Municipality in Natore’s Baraigram.

The deceased has been identified as Istiak Hossain, 16, the only son of Iqbal Hossain Babu from the Kalikapur area of the municipality. Istiak was a student at Bonpara St. Joseph’s School and College and an SSC candidate.

Istiak’s father, Iqbal Hossain Babu, explained that his son had gone to his friend Anir’s house in the Officepara area to celebrate New Year’s Eve. There, Anir’s grandfather, Shafiullah, had arranged music, food, and a gathering on the third floor of their house. Around 11:30 pm, Istiak attempted to jump to a neighboring roof but fell to the ground. His friends rushed to rescue him and took him to a local private hospital, where the doctors pronounced him dead.

The Officer-in-Charge of Bonpara Police Investigation Center, Saral Murmu, confirmed that an unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the incident.
