The government has sent Md. Jahangir Alam, a member of the Planning Commission, into compulsory retirement. The position of a Planning Commission member holds the rank of a secretary.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification regarding his retirement on Sunday (27 October).

According to the notification, Jahangir Alam has completed 25 years of service, and the government deemed it necessary, in the public interest, to retire him from government service. The decision was made under the authority granted by Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018. He will be entitled to retirement benefits as per regulations.

Jahangir Alam previously served as Secretary of the Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. On 20 August, he was transferred to the Planning Commission as a member.
