The intern doctors of Shaheed M Monsur Ali Medical College in Sirajganj observed work abstention on Monday demanding the full implementation and gazette notification of their five-point charter of demands.

Sources said, they started work abstention programme on Sunday last as a part of nationwide movement, which was announced earlier to meet their five point demands.

On Monday, also the second day of their nationwide programme, they boycotted duties and brought out protest procession that marched the campus. Due to their continuous work absentia, service seeker patients and their relatives, who came to the institution from different areas, fell into sufferings.

Their demands include stricter regulations on the ‘doctor’ title, the closure of unaccredited MATS institutions, an increased BCS exam age limit, and immediate implementation of their five demands.

The demonstrators claimed that, they have been continuing their movements as the authorities concerned have not yet been taken any step to fulfill their demands.

They also warned that, their movements will continue until their demands are met.
