Director Rosshan Andrrews’ Hindi debut Deva, starring Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde, continued its steady run at the box office on its second day. As per Sacnilk, the action thriller earned approximately Rs 5.87 crore on Saturday, bringing its total collection to Rs 11.37 crore in two days.
The film opened with Rs 5.5 crore on Friday and maintained a stable performance on Saturday. Morning show occupancy stood at 5.84 per cent, while afternoon and evening shows saw an increase, reaching 11.28 per cent and 14.20 per cent, respectively.
With Sky Force as a competitor, Deva’s first-weekend earnings remain a point of interest.
On Saturday, Zee Studios announced that Deva grossed Rs 10.31 crore on its first day, including Rs 6.82 crore from domestic markets and Rs 3.49 crore overseas.
Trade reports, however, estimated the India gross at Rs 6.60 crore, contributing to a worldwide total of Rs 10.10 crore.
The film follows ACP Dev Ambre, played by Shahid, a womaniser and short-tempered police officer who suffers memory loss while investigating his best friend’s murder.
A remake of Rosshan’s 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police, the adaptation features significant script changes, especially in the climax. Pooja Hegde portrays Divya Sathaye, a journalist and Dev’s girlfriend.
While Deva received mixed reviews, Shahid’s performance was widely appreciated.
