Veteran allrounder Shakib Al Hasan has confirmed his participation in the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL). The star cricketer ensured his availability via a WhatsApp message, finalizing his commitment during the ongoing player transfer window.

Shakib, who has been a key figure in Bangladesh cricket for almost two decades, intends to play for Legends of Rupganj in this season’s DPL. The club has confirmed that the all-rounder has already sent his documents and said that he will complete the contract formalities in the next couple of days.

Shakib Al Hasan, who is currently staying abroad, is facing a ban on his bowling action. Last month, his action was found to be faulty during a second test in Chennai, resulting in his suspension from bowling in international cricket.

Concerns over Shakib’s bowling action first arose during a Division One match of the English County Championship in September. Following this, he underwent an official assessment on December 2 at Loughborough University’s medical department, near Birmingham.

Additionally, Shakib, a former Member of Parliament from the ruling Awami League, has been unable to return to Bangladesh since the student-led uprising on August 5. As a result, his international cricket career remains in limbo.
