Sports Desk:
Bangladesh faced the United States for the first time in an international match at the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston, Texas yesterday. The Tigers made a shameful record of losing in the first match against the 19th-ranked team.
Despite the failure of the top order after losing the toss and batting, Bangladesh scored 153 runs thanks to Towhid Hridoy’s fifty. Bangladesh lost the match by 5 wickets due to the failure of the bowlers. Tiger captain Najmul Hossain Shanto highlighted their batting failure while explaining the reason for the loss.
Apart from this, Shanto also blamed the wicket for the failure of the batsmen. He said we did not bat well, and lost quite a few wickets in the middle overs. Although we got a great start, we didn’t finish well.
After that he said, if we did not lose wickets in between, we could have scored 20 more runs. Then the match could have been different. I don’t consider it a repeat of the mistake. I think we are not playing on a good wicket.
Shanto also said that we did not play on a good wicket in the Zimbabwe series either. But it’s a mental thing. Hope the batters can turn around. Expatriate Bangladeshis went back disappointed because we did not play well. We will try to play well in the next match.
Captain Shanto also expressed regret for not being able to implement the pacers’ plan in the death overs. He said, our spinners bowled well. In the last 2-3 overs, our pacers could not execute the plan. Hopefully, they will turn around in the next match.
