Actress Meher Afroz Shaon and actress Sohana Saba, who were detained on charges of conspiring against the state, are being extensively interrogated.

However, the police have not yet decided whether they will be formally arrested in any case or released after questioning.

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) Additional Police Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick provided this update on Friday (February 6) afternoon.

He mentioned that Meher Afroz Shaon and Sohana Saba are currently being interrogated, but it has not yet been determined in which case they will be arrested. This decision will be announced later.”

This revision keeps the original meaning intact while improving sentence structure and clarity.

On January 15, at a meeting held at Hotel Park in Kolkata, Shaon’s name was mentioned among those present both in person and virtually. Following this, on Thursday evening at around 7:00 PM, the actress was taken into custody by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police on charges of conspiring against the state. She was transported from her residence in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area directly to the DB office on Minto Road in a microbus.

Earlier that same evening, local students and residents set fire to the actress’s house located near Naurundi Railway area in Jamalpur.

Later, on Friday, around 12:30 AM, actress Sohana Saba was arrested from Dhanmondi area and taken to the DB office on Minto Road.

According to DB sources, after actress Shaon, Sohana Saba had been under surveillance. She is accused of involvement in anti-state conspiracies. Sohana Saba had been an active member of the pro-Awami League artists’ WhatsApp group “Alo Asbei.”
