BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Haque was a remarkable and wise politician of the subcontinent.

He made the statement on his verified Facebook profile on Sunday.

In his post, Tarique Rahman wrote, “On the death anniversary of national leader Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Haque, I pay my deep respects to his immortal and untarnished memory. Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Haque was an extraordinary and wise politician of the subcontinent. He struggled until his last days of life for the rights of the people of the country. He is eternally remembered in history for his strong role in the anti-British movement. Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Haque made immense contributions to the progress of the country in politics, society, education, agriculture, and overall national development.”

The acting chairman of BNP further said, “Through the formation of the Debt Arbitration Board, he succeeded in rescuing the oppressed and exploited farmers of Bengal from the brink of destruction. He introduced the Bengal Civil Services Recruitment Rules, the Tenant’s Rights Act, the Money-lender’s Act, and the Shops and Establishments Act, which played a transformative role in improving the lives of the neglected farmers and workers of this region. Sher-e-Bangla Fazlul Haque was a unique talent in our national history. His immense contributions to the creation of the spirit of independence and democratic consciousness will never be forgotten by the people of this country. His extraordinary personality, political wisdom, and foresight will remain an inspiration for future generations of politicians. His name will be written in golden letters in the annals of history for his contributions to the welfare of the nation and the country.”

At the end of his post, he also prayed for the forgiveness of the soul of the great leader Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Haque.
