Zahurul Islam, former activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir and Director of the renowned educational institution Oxford Scholar School formally joined BNP on Thursday night during a meeting held at the Green Valley School premises in Shernagar village of Belkuchi upazila in Sirajganj district.

During the event, Rajshahi Divisional Assistant Organizing Secretary and Convener of the Sirajganj District Convention Preparation Committee Amirul Islam Khan Alim welcomed Zahurul Islam into the party by adorning him with a floral garland.

The programme was presided over by former convener of Belkuchi Upazila BNP Haji Jamal Uddin Bhuiyan.

Leaders and activists from the upazila and municipal BNP, along with various affiliated organizations were also present at the event.

According to party sources, Zahurul Islam, who has long been involved in education and social service, was inspired by the ideologies of the BNP and decided to join the party with the aim to contribute in its political and social mission.

Belkuchi BNP leaders stated, “The involvement of educated and socially conscious individuals will further strengthen the BNP’s organizational foundation.”

Local political observers termed Zahurul Islam’s joining as a positive development that will enhance the organizational strength of the party.
