Centering the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, nomination papers have officially been submitted to the concerned returning officer’s office in favor of Amirul Islam Khan Alim, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-nominated candidate for the Sirajganj-5 (Belkuchi–Chowhali) constituency.
The nomination papers were formally submitted to the Returning Officer at the Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Monday (December 29, 2025) afternoon. A large number of leaders and activists from the BNP and its wing organizations were present during the submission.
The Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises witnessed a festive atmosphere on the occasion. Party leaders and activists chanted slogans in support of the Sheaf of Paddy (Dhaner Shish) symbol, expressing strong enthusiasm and morale.
Speaking at the event, party leaders described Amirul Islam Khan Alim as a dedicated, tested and people-friendly leader. They said that, he has long stood beside the people of Belkuchi and Chowhali during both good and difficult times. Due to his honesty and strong organizational capability, he gains widespread popularity in the constituency, they added.
The leaders further expressed optimism that, if elected, Amirul Islam Khan Alim would play a significant role in ensuring overall development of Belkuchi and Chowhali, establishing a society free from terrorism and extortion, and safeguarding the legitimate rights of the general people.

Talking to journalists after submitting the nomination papers, Amirul Islam Khan Alim said, “I want to contest the election with the love and support of people. My main objectives are to restore democracy, ensure voting rights for the people and work for the comprehensive development of the Sirajganj-5 constituency.”
He also pledged that, if elected, initiatives would be taken to bring gas connections to Belkuchi Upazila, undertake effective measures for the development and revival of the traditional handloom industry and implement sustainable projects to protect the char areas of Chowhali from severe river erosion.
At the end of his remarks, he called upon party leaders and activists to remain united and work collectively in the electoral field, while seeking prayers and cooperation from the people.
