Staff Reporter:
Allegation has been found that an influential quarter is trying to obstruct the ongoing developments of Sirajganj Government College by spreading false and misleading information against its Principal Professor Md. Aminul Islam.
As a result, agitation has been created among the teachers and students of the college. They also urged the authorities concerned to find out the conspirators by conducting a free, fair and transparent investigation into the matter and ensure exemplary punishment to them for the sake of upholding the continuation of the institution’s development.
According to the allegation, an influential quarter has been involved with submitting various false and baseless complaints to different government organizations including Anti-Corruption Commission, Education Ministry and Education Board using fake names and even unnamed.
Due to the false propaganda, images of the principal as well as the glorious educational institution are being tarnished seriously.
Professor Aminul Islam, Principal of the Sirajganj Government College said, “The conspirators recently have brought an allegation that the principal (Aminul Islam) had spent Tk 62 lakh in a year against a Hi-ace car. But it is totally false and baseless. Basically, a total of Tk 14,14,447 was spent in the transportation sector in the last 13 months from July 1, 2024 to July 30, 2025, which clear calculations have remained preserved in different records and files of the college. Not only that, the propagators claimed that, the principal had spent Tk 1.5 lakh against the entertainment of DG in a programme. In fact, with the aim of improving the quality of education, a meeting was organized on June 19 with the teachers of several colleges including Sirajganj Government College, where the DG himself was present and exchanged views with the teachers. The total cost of organizing and hosting the programme was only Tk 26,379. So, there is no question of spending Tk 150,000 here. Spreading such as false and misleading information is considered as a part of conspiracies against the college and its principal, he added.
He further said, on August 24, the Anti-Corruption Commission held a public hearing at the Sirajganj District Shilpakala Academy based on various complaints filed by the service seekers against various service providers in the district. As the complaints filed against Sirajganj Government College were not proven, the commission declared the complaint settled and advised the complainants not to provide such baseless and fictitious information in the future.
Mohammad Habibullah Siddiqui, Associate Professor of the Islamic Education Department at the college said, “An investigation over the issue has already been conducted recently. I hope that, the real fact will be unveiled and main perpetrators will come to forwards.”
Teachers, staffs and students of the college also condemned the ill-motives of the conspirators.
