Sirajganj Government College Principal Md. Aminul Islam has been transferred elsewhere over corruption and anomalies allegations.

This order was issued in a letter signed by Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Education Tania Ferdous on Thursday night, 10 days after the ACC operation.

At the same time, Aminul Islam has been replaced by Md. Muhidul Hasan, Head of the Chemistry Department of Gurudayal Government College in Kishoreganj.

In addition, Aminul Islam has been transferred to the head of the accounting department of Government Edward College in Pabna.

Earlier, on September 15, a three-member team led by Sadhan Kumar Sutradhar, Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Pabna Integrated District Office, visited the college to investigate the allegations of irregularities and corruption raised against the principal. During the drive, the ACC team collected various information and seized several files and documents.

Regarding the transfer, Aminul Islam said, “The authorities did what they thought as best. I am not unhappy with it. I myself could not take so much pressure.”

Professor Aminul Islam joined Sirajganj Government College as the Principal on September 9, 2024. Recently, various media outlets reported allegations of irregularities and corruption against him. In the meantime, the issues were raised in the form of complaints at the 181st public hearing of the ACC in Sirajganj on August 24.

At that time, ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Mian Muhammad Ali Akbar Azizi ordered an investigation into the allegations by listing the allegations in the ACC’s schedule. Later, on September 15, a team led by Sadhan Kumar Sutradhar, Assistant Director of the ACC’s Pabna Integrated District Office, inspected the college and collected various information and data.

Sadhan Kumar, Head of the ACC inspection team, also claimed to have found evidences of irregularities in some fields against the principal.
