Workers and employees of Sirajganj Palli Biddyut Samity-1 and 2 on Tuesday observed work abstention for the second consecutive day as a part of their countrywide indefinite strike to press home their three-point demand including regularisation of jobs.

Deputy General Manager (Technical) Belal Hossain of Sirajganj Palli Vidyut Samiti-2, Assistant General Manager Kazi Jasim Uddin, Assistant General Manager (IT) Sajidur Rahman, Assistant Accountant Raihan Basar, Line Technician Anwar Hossain, meter writer cum messenger Safiqul Islam and billing assistant Mahima Khatun among others spoke on the occasion during a protest meeting held at its office premises.

It is known that, about 40,000 workers and employees of 80 Palli Biddyut Samity of the country went on strike on May 5 keeping emergency electricity service running.

At that time, the senior officials of the electricity department assured to fulfill their demand. Then they return to their works. After passing of about two months, their problems have not yet been resolved. As a result, the workers and employees of the association have gone to agitation again.

The protesting employees said that the program will continue until the demands are met. However, emergency customer services and power supply will remain normal.
