The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has unearthed the mystery of the murder of a man whose body was recovered from a paddy field under Rayganj upazila of the district.
They have already arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the killing and sent them to jail through court, M N Morshed, Police super, PBI Sirajnganj, disclosed the information at a media briefing at its office on Tuesday.
The PBI SP said that a body of an unidentified man was recovered from a paddy field at Nijhuri village under Rayganj upazila on February 24 last. The legs and hands of the victim were tied with rope.
A day later, Asaduzzaman Ranju, identified the body as his brother Kamal Hossain Chancal and filed a case with local police in this connection, the SP said. Though, the victim hailed from Gournadi in Barishal dstrict but used to reside in Dhaka, he added.
Police said, the victim was a mobile parts trader and got involved in manpower business. He later received a handsome amount of money from some youths from Bhurungamari upazila in Kurigram district assuring them for sending them to Italy, but finally failed to do that, police said.
As a result, the youths being aggrieved, kidnapped Kamal Hossain Chanchal from Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area on February 23 and left the body in the paddy field after killing him.
The PBI took over the charge of the investigation into the case and finally arrested Rasel Hussain, 25, Nasidur Zaman Nasib, 23 and Kafilur Rahman, 23, from Bhurungamari area.
The arrested persons were produced before the court and they gave confessional statement before the court in this regard.
The PBI officials are also trying to nab the other killers of Chanchal.
