Arifur Rahman Mandal, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Sirajganj said, “Sirajganj district police in collaboration with highway police have taken all kinds of necessary steps to ensure smooth journey for the homebound holidaymakers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest festival of the Muslims.”

He told this while visiting several risky points of Dhaka-North Bengal Highway including Jhaoil Bridge area in Sirajganj district on Tuesday.

He also said, “Additional police personnel will be deployed after identification of risky points on the highway in which no untoward incident occurs. As the pressure of traffic (vehicles) is increased during the Eid holidays compared to the usual time, over 800 police personnel from both of the district and highway police will stay on alert at different points on the highway to ensure uninterrupted trips of the holidaymakers. Besides, five wreckers will keep ready at different points on the highway with the aim to rapid removal of accidental vehicles to safer places from the spots to avert traffic gridlock.”

“We think that police have to face challenges over around 50 km of the busiest highway under Sirajganj district started from the western side of Bangabandhu Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge. In the last Eid, we tackled road management nicely and hope we will be able to do better in the upcoming Eid to ensure safety of the commuters. Bangladesh police always work for people. So, we expect to make continue the course of serving for people this time like earlier,” he added.

The Police Super also urged all the drivers not to take part in any competition during the travel on highway for the sake of travelers. He wishes safe journey for all during the Eid holidays.
