Despite his consistent performances in domestic and franchise cricket, wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan has been left out of Bangladesh’s squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan, starting 20 July in Mirpur. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced an unchanged 16-member squad on Thursday from the one that secured a historic T20I series win in Sri Lanka.

Sohan’s exclusion has raised eyebrows, given his recent form across formats. In this year’s Dhaka Premier League, the 31-year-old scored 512 runs in 11 innings for Dhanmondi Club, including two centuries and two fifties, averaging 58 with a strike rate of 93.54. Last season, he amassed 495 runs. He also impressed against New Zealand ‘A’, scoring a century in a four-day match and a 112-run knock in an ODI.

Currently leading Rangpur Riders in the Global Super League, Sohan has guided his team to the final, further showcasing his value as a dependable performer and leader. However, despite his credentials, the selectors have opted to stick with the previous squad.
