A Correspondent, Narayanganj:

A man was allegedly beaten to death by his son with a hammer after refusing to give him money to buy a motorcycle. The incident occurred on Friday morning (July 4) in the Purbo Para area of Araihazar upazila in Narayanganj.

The deceased was identified as Md Mahbub, 42, a farmer by profession. His son, Md Yasin, 22, fled the scene following the incident. Locals claimed that Yasin was addicted to drugs.

According to residents, Yasin demanded money from his father that morning to purchase a motorcycle. When Mahbub refused, an argument broke out between them. At one point, Yasin became enraged and allegedly struck his father repeatedly with a hammer.

Mahbub was rushed to the upazila health complex in critical condition, where doctors later declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Araihazar Police Station Khondoker Nasir Uddin said police recovered the body and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

He added that preliminary investigation suggests the murder was prompted by the father’s refusal to give money for a motorcycle. The accused is currently on the run, and a manhunt is underway to arrest him.
