Rajshahi Correspondent:

An examinee of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination drowned in the Padma River while taking a bath in the river in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Farhad Hossain, 17, a SSC examinee from Godagari Government School and College and son of Manirul Islam Babu of Srimantapur village in the upazila.

Witnesses said Farhad along with his friends went to the Padma River, near Godagari Model Police Station, to take a bath.

At one stage, he drowned in the river.

Getting no whereabouts of Farhad after a frantic search, local people informed the matter to the local fire service.

Abu Sama, senior station officer of Rajshahi Fire Service, said divers from the fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Farhad.
