The State Guest House Jamuna is being prepared to serve as the office and residence of the chief adviser of the interim government which will take the oath of office on Thursday.
Dr Muhammad Yunus, who will head the government, will reside at Jamuna, located on Minto Road in Dhaka, after taking the oath, according to a reliable source.
After Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign as prime minister and fled the country in the face of a mass uprising, enraged people extensively vandalized the Prime Minister’s Office and Ganabhaban, her official residence.
As a result, these two locations are currently unsuitable for office work or residence.
Several officials involved in preparing the chief adviser’s office and residence said that following the decision to form the interim government, Cabinet Division officials had been working on setting up Jamuna as the chief adviser’s office and residence, in consultation with the president.
Another official mentioned that preparations were underway for the swift renovation of the PMO and Ganabhaban, adding that a committee would first assess the damage to these two important state structures before initiating their prompt reconstruction.
