Shopping malls and markets will remain open until 7:00pm from Sunday, as authorities decided to extend operating hours by one hour, said Power, Energy and Mineral Resources State Minister Anindya Islam Amit.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday.

The state minister said diesel demand is expected to remain at its peak until April 15, adding that district administrations have been instructed to ensure farmers receive adequate diesel during this period.

“We are fully prepared to meet all types of fuel demand in April. At the same time, initiatives have been taken to build fuel reserves sufficient for the next three months,” he said.

Anindya Islam Amit also noted that April’s diesel demand has already been secured.

Several new fuel sources have been identified, and efforts are underway to ensure supply from those sources.

He expressed optimism that the target of securing a three-month fuel reserve would be achieved.
