Students-public on Tuesday staged demonstrations including rally and procession in front of Chandaikona Union Parishad demanding removal of its Chairman Abdul Hannan Khan from the position.
The demonstrators led by local Union BNP President Abdul Momin Sarker brought out a procession that marched local roads and held a rally in front of the Union Parishad office.
The speakers at the rally said, Abdul Hannan Khan was elected as Chairman by stealing votes on the blessing of Awami League backed government. After coming on the power, he has established an illegal empire of corruption, mismanagement and irregularities at the Union Parishad in which general people of the jurisdiction are being deprived of services. Consequently, service seekers are facing immense sufferings. This is why, they want to removal of the UP Chairman. Otherwise, they will go for tougher agitation in future.
Local BNP’s Senior Vice-President Shamim Hasan Khandaker, General Secretary Abu Shyama, Jubo Dal Organizing Secretary Shifat Al Hasan and anti-discrimination students’ movement leaders among others were also present in the event and spoke on the occasion.
