A part of the HSC students withdrew the blockade set up at the Shahbagh intersection issuing an ultimatum for tougher movements if the Education Minister Ehsanul Haque Milon fails to resign by 10:00pm on Wednesday.

The students said they were lifting the blockade to alleviate public suffering, but threatened to launch a “Long March” to the Secretariat from Science Lab intersection at 10am next morning, unless Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon met the deadline for resignation.

The Shahbagh blockade was enforced around 6pm on Wednesday evening, shortly after a group of students left the Secretariat area amid stiff police resistance. Some students said they left the area to “prepare for their next exams,” but warned they were determined to realise their demands, including the education minister’s resignation.
