A 3-kilometer symbolic marathon was held in Sirajganj to mark the anniversary of the July Uprising of students and the public.
The marathon started from the Paikpara area of Sadar Upazila on the banks of the Jamuna River at around 7:00 am on Friday (July 18) and ended at the Charmalsapara area of Cross Barrage No. 3.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nazrul Islam inaugurated the marathon. Faruk Hossain, Superintendent of Police in Sirajganj was present as the guest of honor.
It was conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ganapati Roy, convener of the July Resurgence Programme 2025 Marathon Sub-Committee.
The symbolic marathon was attended by family members of the martyrs and injured in the July Uprising of Sirajganj, officials and employees of government and private institutions, Bir freedom fighters, student coordinators of the anti-discrimination movement, media workers, development workers, human rights activists, athletes, political, social, cultural personalities, and people from various professions.
