A Correspondent, Tangail:

The water levels of the three main rivers flowing through Tangail district—Jamuna, Dhaleshwari, and Jhenai—have risen again in the last 24 hours. Consequently, the overall flood situation in the district has worsened.

Floodwaters have submerged houses, markets, educational institutions, croplands, and other establishments in several upazilas.

In recent days, water levels had receded, bringing some relief to the flood-affected residents.

However, now there is panic among the residents as the river levels are rising once again.

Meanwhile, many educational institutions in the district have been closed due to the flood.

According to Tangail Water Development Board (WDB), the water level of the Jhenai River at Jokarchar point is flowing 92cm above the danger level, while the Brahmaputra-Jamuna River is flowing 10cm above the danger level at Porabari point and Dhaleshwari River is flowing 24cm above the danger level at Elasin point.

The water level of Fatikjani River has increased by 10cm at Nalchapa Bridge point, 11cm at Kauljani point, 21cm at Mirzapur point and 9cm at Madhupur point.
