Three people have been killed and another person has been critically injured in a road crash involving a pickup van and a motorcycle in Tangail’s Dhanbari Upazila.

The accident occurred early on Thursday morning, said SM Shahidullah, chief of Dhanbari Police Station.

The dead have been identified as Md Al Amin, 30, Swapan Mia, 35, and Md Jewel, 32. All of them hailed from Jamalpur’s Sadar Upazila. The injured has been identified as Md Sunny, 18, from Mymensingh’s Sadar Upazila.

OC Shahidullah said, citing locals, that a pickup van was headed from Dhaka to Jamalpur early on Thursday morning. As it reached the Bilaspur Bottola area, it crashed into an oncoming motorycycle. Three of the motorcycle passengers were killed on the spot.

The man who was seriously injured was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

The bodies of the dead will be handed over to the families after legal processing, OC Shahidullah said.
