Entertainment Desk:
The official trailer of ‘The Girlfriend’ dropped on Saturday, giving audiences a raw, emotional glimpse into Rashmika Mandanna’s most intense role yet. Directed by Rahul Ravindran, the upcoming Telugu film explores the turbulent journey of Bhooma, a young woman caught in a suffocating relationship with her classmate, played by Dheekshith Shetty.
The trailer paints a haunting picture of love turning toxic, as Bhooma battles anxiety, control, and emotional turmoil. Her boyfriend’s erratic behaviour and the mysterious presence of another woman, Durga (Anu Emmanuel), push her further into a cycle of pain and confusion. Told from Bhooma’s perspective, the story promises an intimate and unsettling look at what happens when affection turns into obsession.
Rahul Ravindran’s return to direction after six years – following ‘Manmadhudu 2’ – marks a shift toward more emotionally grounded storytelling in Telugu cinema. ‘The Girlfriend’ stands out for centring the female experience, a theme often sidelined in the industry. The film also stars Rao Ramesh and Rohini in pivotal roles, with Ramesh playing Bhooma’s disapproving father.
Produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni and Vidya Kopineedi under Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment and Geetha Arts, the film is presented by Allu Aravind. Music comes from Hesham Abdul Wahab of ‘Hi Nanna’ fame, while Prashanth R Vihari composes the background score. The technical crew includes Krishnan Vasant (cinematography), Chota K Prasad (editing), and art direction by S Rama Krishna and Monika Nigotre.
‘The Girlfriend’ will hit theatres on November 7, 2025.
Rashmika, fresh off the success of ‘Thamma’, continues her strong run with this performance-driven role that promises depth, emotion, and introspection.
