Former Bangladesh cricketer Shahidul Alam Ratan received special honors at the traditional Kennington Oval Stadium in England. KIA Oval has been renamed ‘KIA Shahidul Alam Ratan Oval’ after him to help children stay active during lockdown, which will remain in force for 24 hours. Shahidul Alam Ratan is currently leading the London Cricket Charity.
Kennington Oval, a nearly two-and-a-half-century-old stadium in England, has taken steps to honor grassroots athletes and volunteers during the Covid-19 epidemic. They also include former Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Shahidul Alam Ratan, who made an admirable contribution to the Corona lockdown.
Shahidul Alam Ratan used to play as a wicketkeeper in the 80’s and 90’s in the pre-Test era of Bangladesh. He is currently the chief executive of Capital Kids Cricket. Capital Kids Cricket is basically a charitable organization that works for the underprivileged children through cricket.
Capital Kids Cricket created a digital activity zone to keep the kids of Corona Lockdown active. Shahidul Alam Ratan has taken overall care of these works. He also arranged family counseling, including virtual sessions and regular quizzes, especially for mentally challenged children such as refugee children.
Kennington Oval has honored him for these works. In response, Ratan said, ‘The news of getting such a big honor is really great. It’s a great honor to have a historic stadium like the Oval named after me, not just in England, but in the whole cricketing world. (Source: Online)
