Unidentified assailants attacked a bkash agent and robbed Tk 6.5 lakh from Manda upazila in Naogaon district on Thursday night.

The incident occurred at Satihat Dhanhati west intersection in the upazila at 10 PM.

The injured businessman was identified as Manik Chandra Sarkar, 45, a resident of Srirampur village in Ganeshpur union in the upazila. Manik is the owner of a variety shop.

According to the victim, he was attacked by several individuals at the time of returning home after closing his shop when he reached the Dhanhati intersection.

They attacked him from behind, hitting his head with an iron rod, beat him and snatched his bag containing Tk 6.5 lakh in cash.

The incident has spread panic among local business owners.

Manik was admitted to Manda Upazila Health Complex with injuries.

Manda Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mansur Rahman confirmed the incident and said that police are working to identify and arrest those involved in the incident and recover the stolen money.
