Police recovered around Tk37 lakh from the car of Gaibandha Local Government and Engineering Department’s Executive Engineer Sabiul Islam during a search on the Natore-Bogura highway at Singra in Natore.

According to law enforcement sources, police and army personnel were jointly conducting a search operation in the Chalan Beel Gate area on the highway. They found Tk36,94,300 during a search inside Sabiul’s car.

During initial interrogation, the engineer, along with his driver, who were both taken to Singra police station, claimed that he had received the money from the sale of his land. However, he did not explain why he was transporting the money in the dead of night.
