A Dhaka court has ordered authorities concerned to freeze Tk40 crore across four bank accounts of Maj Gen (retd) Hamidul Haque, former director general of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), amid an ongoing inquiry against him by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Monday (July 7 ) following a hearing on a petition filed by ACC Assistant Director Nawshad Ali, said ACC Public Relations Officer Akhtarul Islam.
According to the petition, intelligence sources indicated that Hamidul and his associates were attempting to withdraw, transfer, or relocate the funds during the ongoing inquiry. The ACC argued that freezing the accounts was essential to ensure the integrity of the inquiry.
Earlier, on 21 April, the same court imposed a travel ban on Hamidul and his wife Nusrat Jahan Mukta in connection with the inquiry.
